| Hey guys,
I'm Claire, I'm 22, I studied English in Lyon 2 (Licence LLCE) and now I'm an erasmus student in London (Westminster Uni!). I should say I was, really, because the academic year has been finished for a while now.
Anyways, I applied for a job as a French assistant in London, I hope to hear from the CIEP soon - I hate having to waaait! My second and third choices were Scotland and Northern Ireland, so as these have already been assigned, it seems like I probably will get London. I'm not throwing a party yet, however. I hope to get assigned to somewhere central-ish, North London zone 2 or 3 would be fantastic... Fingers crossed!
To those who complain they're losing their English because of the strikes, I wonder, where do you/did you learn your English in the first place?
The purpose of a English Literature, Language and Civilisation degree is to study English-speaking Literature, Linguistics and History, not to learn how to speak English! You should definitely not try and study English at uni if your English skill aren't up to the challenge. It's far better in my opinion to go to the UK or the US for a summer or a year as an au pair and come back knowing enough English to follow the course properly. I was always astonished at how bad some people's grammar or vocabulary was when I was at Lyon 2. (If you get offended by this, please know that no, it wasn't directed at you personally and yes, F. Orazi is my favourite teacher of all time.)
Just watch movies and series in English, with no subtitles or read your favourite books in English. Go to English speaking forums, listen to podcasts, start doing couchsurfing and host English-speaking people if you can't afford travelling.
It's not that difficult to practice English outside of Uni! Actually, I'd say I practise more on the internet on my own than in a classroom with 40+ students in it.

| Hello all of u!!! My name's Marion, I'm 23 and I'm from Reims. I study criminal law, so it's a bit unusual to find a french assistant, who has nothing to do with education ;-) But i studied in England (Wolverhampton) in 2006 with the Erasmus programm and i totally felt in love with this country, so i"ve done everything i could to go back there and i succeed!!! My area wishes are : number 21: northern Ireland, and 14 and 9. I'm still waiting for the place i'm gonna work. I hope your wishes come true and that you'll have great fun anywhere you're going!!! xxx Marion | |

| I've registered a while ago now, but I think it's rude to write in the topics before you've introduced yourself So hi everyone, I'm Marine, I'm 20 and I'm in Lille 3 in LLCE Anglais I want to be an English Teacher since I'm about 14, so this experience is a must for me! And I've been in London for a month last summer, for the holidays, and enjoyed this city like no other so I think this country is the place for me. I asked for areas not too far from London to be able to go back home on school holidays (I'm daddy's girl y'know and I can't live without my best friends) and because I love London a hell lot, but I want to see other places of this beautiful country! What else can I say that is not completly boooring like this already is... I love all average thingies for a twenty-years-old chick, music is my on the top, drama et literature in general and I have a problem with alcohol that I'm trying hard to solve (just kiddin' ). And I'll try to enjoy this year as much as I possibly can! Travelling a lot with Loupiotte and all. That's it! | |

| Hi, My name is Leïla, but you can call me Symb ^^ I've been living in Lyon for 3 years, and I love this town ^^ Before that, I was in Morroco, where I was born. I'm half french/half morrocan and I really insisted on this during the interview, because I considered it to be my greatest asset : "Are you sure that it won't be a problem to live in a foreign country ?" "Well, I'm already living in a foreign country..." I requested region 16-15-14 and I've been checking my mails everyday since I registred here, your impatience is soooo contagious ^^ Are there any metal-heads in the forum ? I really hope I'll go to some concerts ^^ (surely not if I'm in the middle of nowhere but hey, fingers crossed ) If you want to discover my other passion, take a look at my deviant ^^ http://symbelmune.deviantart.com/ | |

I only visit Essaouira once (actually it was more than visiting, we lived in the middle of the town in an old building full of cockroaches) Anyway I like your name ! The evening ! Since we asked for the same regions, you will help me in my Arabic lessons ^^ (if that's ok with you..)

| Hmm, my favourites were definitely Orazi, Dixon and Walker. Most of the Lyon 2 teachers are quite nice actually, but these guys just cracked me up Also, Neil Davie and his bad Star Wars joke during his lectures... | |
